Key events on Saturday:The first day of classes in BrisbaneFor those who do not want to attend classes on Saturday, there will be free admission from 11am.
Students will also have the opportunity to take a walk around the city with local teachers and play sports, including a tennis match, with a local tennis coach.
A day-long event is scheduled for Friday.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has launched an investigation into the state of the Zika virus, which has been declared a public health emergency in Australia.
It said the Zika investigation could not be fully completed before October 30.
It will also investigate the possible impact of a coronavirus pandemic, which began in October, and will decide whether to extend the public health state of emergency in the ACT until March 2019.
In SydneyThe state’s premier health minister, Jane Garrett, is set to hold a media conference in Sydney on Saturday to announce the launch of a $6 million pilot project to test the safety of people travelling with Zika in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus.
Ms Garrett will also announce the formation of a state-led taskforce, with $4 million in funding to conduct the testing, to ensure the safety and security of travellers.
